Munger: In an apparent move to put pressure on grand alliance government headed by Nitish Kumar to establish a university at Munger and showcasing discontent of the people against the indiffernt attitude of the government over the issue, the Munger district chapter of the RJD under the banner of Vishwavidyalay Nirman Sangharsha Morcha will stage a roadhow on August 9 on all the main streets of the district headquarters town here.
Giving this information, Pramod Yadav, president of the district unit of RJD and convenor of the Morcha, and Mantoo Sharma, a spokesman of the RJD, on Monday said that the people from every section of the society irrespective of caste, creed and political affiliations will participate in the roadshow.
However, senior office bearers of the constituents of the grand alliance including JD(U) and Congress in Bihar will skip the roadshow convened by the Morcha. Saurabh Nidhi, president, district Congress committee(DCC), Munger, said that his party will keep away from the show though he conceded that a varsity at Munger was essential for this undeveloped region.
Mantoo said that the intellectuals of the town, who attended a seminar on this topic on Sunday here, also endorsed the agitation launched for establishment of a university saying it was a right decision as CM Nitish Kumar had failed to keep his promises made to the people of Munger district several times in this regard. The roadshow will be peaceful, said Naresh Prasad Yadav, a student leader. The district administration has geared up to maintain law and order during the roadshow, said police sources.
