Patna : RJD MP from Araria parliamentary constituency and former Union Minister Mohammad Taslimuddin, 74, died on September 17, 2017, at a Chennai hospital due to breathing problem. He was admitted to the hospital on August 24, 2017, following breathing problem. His junior colleagues addressed him as `Chacha’. He had gone to Chennai to attend a parliamentary committee meeting. Taslimuddin was known for his candid remark on different issues.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters. One of his sons Sarfaraz Alam is an MLA. from Jokihat assembly constituency in Araria district. Taslimuddin was elected MLA eight times and was a minister too. Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, RJD chief Lalu Prasad, former CM Rabri Devi and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Yadav  have mourned Mohd Taslimuddin.
