Muzaffarpur : With river Bagmati causing havoc in Aurai, Katra, Paroo and Shahebganj blocks of Muzaffarpur district, the flood affected people have started shifting to safer places particularly the residents of villages located inside the embankment under Paroo and Sahebganj blocks.

Muzaffarpur district administration has already sounded alert in the wake of rising water level of river Bagmati. The NDRF teams reached Aurai and Sahebganj on late August 13,  2017, night. The water level of Bagmati has increased by 7 ft at Aurai and Katra in the district. Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh said that flodd relief camps were being set up at Aurai, Katra, Paroo ans Sahebganj.

Altogether 12 districts of Bihar including Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, East Champaran, West Champaran and Muzaffarpur  are reeling under flood. The centre has rushed NDRF teams to Bihar. The state government has also sought help from army to rescue flood affected people. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar apprised PM Narendra Modi of the flood situation in the state on August 13 evening.
