Patna: About 20 people took shelter on an electric pole in Katihar on Monday noon when the boat in which they were travelling from Barari capsized in the swollen Ganga. Rescue team has been sent over there, according to official sources.
Rising Kosi, Ganga and Bagmati inundated over 20 dozen villages in Madhepura, Gopalganj, Supaul and Muzaffarpur districts. The Distaster management department sent 45 boats to Madhepura to bring the affected villagers to a safe place. In Muzaffarpur, about a dozen villages under Aurai and Katra blocks have been flooded. In Gopalganj district, 12 villages under Kuchaikot block lost contacts with the district headquarters due to flood. Weather office has forecast heavy rains in North Bihar districts and moderate rains in South Bihar.
