Ara : The 71st Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Bhojpur District. The national flag was unfurled by almost all educational institutions, government offices, NGOs, Red Cross Society, Bal Hindi Pustakalaya, Arya Samaj, Lawaris Sewa Kendra, Youth Hostel of India, IMA, Civil Court, and the SP office. and all the police stations.
The main function was organised at historical Ramana Maidan where Bhojpur District Magistrate Roushan Kushwaha hoisted the tri-colour. Paying tributes to the freedom fighters, he highlighted the achievements of the government and the district administration. He also apprised the people of the schemes and policy of the government. The DM gave a clarion call to the people take active part in development of Bhojpur district as it is not possible without their active participation. He also stressed on ‘Jal Jeevan Hariyali’. At least a dozen tableaux were taken out by several government and non-government organisations highlighting the social problems, achievements and welfare schemes of government. The DM gave away certificates of appreciation to students for their excellence in the field of sports, education, arts and culture, health and social work.
A colourful cultural programme was also organised at Nagari Pracharini Sabhagar by the school children and others to mark the occasion. Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha distributed prizes and certificates among the participants. A horse show at MMP ground and fancy cricket match between citizen and officials of district administration were also organized to mark the occasion.
Earlier in the morning, school children took out a ‘Prabhat Pheri’ that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at Ramana Maidan. Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar and Bhojpur District Judge Fagu Chudhary unfurled the national flag at the SP Office and Ara Civil Court respectively.
Incidentally, a man entered Ramana Maidan with the national flag in his hand breaking the security cordon and showed stunt on motorcycle but later police arrested him. The man was identified as Azad Quraishi. He said that he had sought permission to perform stunt during the flag hoisting function at Ramana Maidan but was not allowed.
Headmasters and Principals of all schools and colleges, Chairperson, the Red Cross Society, President, Youth Hostel of India, former MLC, Lal Das Rai (at Lawaris Sewa Kendra), Mayor, AMC, Ruby Tiwari (at AMC), Secretary, Lok Jagriti Ara, also unfurled the national flag.
