New Delhi : India tested 11,72,179 COVID-19 samples on September 2, 2020, taking the tally to 4,55,09,380 in the country. It was third day in row that India tested over ten lakh COVID samples. The number of COVID patients getting cured/discharged also jumped to 29,70,492 at 8 am on September 3, 2020,  a record increase of 68,584 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 21,54,954, a huge margin.

The COVID death toll jumped to 67,376 on September 3, 2020, with 1,043 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 293 from Maharashtra, 113 from Karnataka, 98 from Tamilnadu, 72 from Andhra Pradesh, 74 from UP, 56 from West Bengal, 106 from Punjab, 12 from Gujarat, 27 from MP, and 19 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.75 % in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on September 3, 2020, is : Maharashtra (25,195), Tamilnadu (7,516), Karnataka (5,950), Delhi (4,481), Andhra Pradesh (4,125), Uttar Pradesh (3,616), West Bengal (3,339), Gujarat (3,046), Madhya Pradesh (1,453), Rajasthan (1,081),  Punjab (1,618), Telengana (856), J&K (717), Haryana (721), Bihar (646), Odisha (514), Jharkhand (438), Assam (323), Uttarakhand (291), Kerala (305),  Chhattisgarh (299), Puducherry (253), Goa (204), Tripura (126), Chandigarh (59),  Andaman & Nicobar (47), Himachal Pradesh (43), Ladakh (35), Manipur (29), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (13), Arunachal Pradesh (7), Sikkim (4), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 722 in the state on September 2, 2020.
