New Delhi : The upswing in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 19,77,779 at 8 am on August 18, 2020, a record increase of 57,937 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 13,04,613. The number of active cases in India stands at 6,73,166.
A total of 4,28,514 COVID patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra till date, 2,83,937 in Tamilnadu, 2,09,100 in Andhra Pradesh, 1,48,562 in Karnataka, 1,38,301 in Delhi, and 1,04,808 in UP. A total of 3,09,41,264 COVID samples have been tested in the country till date.
On the negative side, COVID death toll jumped to 51,797 in India on August 18, 2020, with 876 new deaths being reported from different pats of the country during past 24 hours including 228 from Maharashtra, 120 from Tamilnadu, 115 from Karnataka, 82 from Andhra Pradesh, 66 from UP, 45 from West Bengal, 51 from Punjab, 18 from Delhi, and 15 from Gujarat, according to Union Health Ministry sources.
The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 18, 2020, is : Maharashtra (20,265), Tamilnadu (5,886), Delhi (4,214), Karnataka (4,062), Gujarat (2,800), Andhra Pradesh (2,732), Uttar Pradesh (2,515), West Bengal (2,473), Madhya Pradesh (1,128), Rajasthan (887), Punjab (863), Telengana (711), J&K (548), Haryana (550), Bihar (468), Odisha (353), Jharkhand (250), Assam (197), Uttarakhand (158), Kerala (169), Chhattisgarh (150), Puducherry (114), Goa (111), Tripura (62), Chandigarh (30), Andaman & Nicobar (29), Himachal Pradesh (19), Manipur (17), Ladakh (14), Nagaland (8), Meghalaya (6), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1).
As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll had reached 542 in the state on August 17, 2020.
