RCB beat CSK by 1 run in 39th match of IPL-12, Dhoni scores unbeaten 84 with 7 sixes

Patna : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 1 run in the 39th match of IPL-12 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on April 21, 2019, night, though CSK captain M S Dhoni remained unbeaten on 84 in 48 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes, an incredible knock.  CSK needed 26 runs in the last over, Dhoni scored 24 on the first 5 balls including 3 sixes and a four and needed only 2 runs of the last ball. But Shardul Thakur was run out on the last ball bowled by fast bowler Umesh Yadav. CSH finished at 160/8 in 20 overs in reply to RCB’s 161/7.

Batting first, RCB had scored  161/7 in 20 overs with opener Parthiv Patel scoring 53 in 37 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Virat Kohli fell to Deepak Chahar for 9 while A B de Villiers fell to spinner Ravindra Jadeja for 25 with 3 fours and a six. Moeen Ali scored 26 with 5 fours while Akashdeep Nath scored hitting a four and six. Marcus Stoinis scored 14.

For CSK, Deepak Chahar took 2/25 in 4 overs while Ravindra Jadeja took 2/29 in 4 overs. Dwayne Bravo took 2/34 in 4 overs while Imran Tahir took 1/31 in 4 overs.

Chasing a target of 162, CSK lost their first 4 wickets with only 28 runs on board. Dhoni steadied the innings and added 55 runs with Ambati Rayudu for the 5th wicket. Rayudu fell to spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for 29 in 29 balls with 2 fours and a six. Ravindra Jadeja was run out for 11.
