Rape and murder of mahadalit girl rocks Bhojpur

Ara : Irate villagers blocked Jamalpur -Sakaddi  main road under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district on May 9, 2018, in protest against rape and murder of a teenage mahadalit girl by some unidentified persons. They burnt tyres on road paralysing the movement of vehicles for two hours. They were demanding arrest of the miscreants at the earliest.

The blockade was lifted after the positive response from police officials. Police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

SHO, Koelwar police station, Pankaj Kumar Saini said that the 17 year old girl of Pachaina Pasi Tola had gone to the field to attend call of nature on May 8, 2018, evening, where some unidentified miscreants caught her and took her to a secluded place and outraged her modesty. They also strangulated her to death to erase evidence.

When she did not return home, her family members searched for her the whole night but failed. On May 9 morning, the women of the village saw body of the girl lying in the field after which police were informed, the SHO said.
