Corin defeated World No 94 Vasek Pospisil, 28, Canada, 6-4, 6-3 in the first round of 64. Coric won 3 break points to none by Pospisil.

Raonic stunned World No 11 David Goffin, 27, Belgium, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of 64. Raonic fired 13 Aces in the match to just 2 by Goffin. Both the players committed 3 dou le faults each. Raonic won 2 break points too. World No 32 Sam Querrey, 30, USA, beat World No 25 Adrian Mannarino, 30, France, 6-2, 7-5 to enter the scond round of 32. Querrey fired 13 Aces to just 2 by Mannarino.

Winner of three Grand Slam titles Stan Wawrinka, 33, Switzerland, the World No 195, upset World No 17 Nick Kyrgios, 23, Australia, 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 to enter the secondround. Kyrgios fired 26 Aces to 13 by Wawrinka. Both players won 2 break points each.
