Patna : World No 130 in ATP rankings Ramkumar Ramnathan, 24, India, World No 265 Saketh Myneni, 31, India, and World No 291 Sumit Nagal, 21, crashed out of KPIT-MSLTA Challenger tennis tournament at Pune, Maharashtra, in the first round losing to players ranked lower than them.
World No 370 Arjun Kadhe, 24, India, stunned Ramnathan 6-3, 6-2 in the first round in a massive upset in the tournament. Kadhe virtually crushed Ramnathan in a lopsided match. Kadhe will play World No 189 Brayden Schnur, 23, Canada, in the second round on November 21.
World No 355 Sasi Kumar Mukund, 21, India, upset beat World No 265 Myneni 6-4, 7-6 in a tough contest in the first round. Mukund will play 6th seed and World No 181 Jay Clark, 20, UK, in the second round on November 21. Myneni had finished runners-up at the recently concluded ATP Challenger Bangalore. Fast rising Mukund has risen 61 places in the ATP rankings released on November 19, 2018. Myneni has also jumped 47 places in the ATP rankings.
World No 102 and top seed Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, beat Sumit Nagal, who had won ATP Challenger Bangalore singles title in 2017 and reached quarter-finals of the event recently, 7-5, 6-2 to enter the second round.
World No 110 and 4th seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 29, India, also progressed to the second round beating World No 267 Yang Tsung Hua, 27, Taiwan, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round.
