Rabri appears before ED at its Patna office

Patna : Former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, who had earlier skipped six summons from Enforcement Directorate (ED) asking her to appear before it at its Delhi office for questioning in a railway hotels allotment irregularity case, on December 2, 2017, appeared before it at its zonal office at Patna. She has reached the ED zonal office at Patna.

A special team of the ED from Delhi is expected to question her and record her statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It is understood that the ED allowed Rabri’s request to be questioned at Patna not in Delhi, where the criminal case was  registered.

The ED has earlier questioned Rabri Devi’s son and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Yadav twice for almost nine hours each time in this case. In July 2017, it had  registered a case against some family members of Lalu and others under the PMLA.

The CBI had on July 5, 2017,  registered a first information report in this connection and carried out searches on 12 locations including Patna, Ranchi, Delhi and Gurugram on July 7, 2017. The Central Bureau of Investigation had registered a case u/s 120B r/w 420 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988, against the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his wife, Tejaswi, a private person based at New Delhi, two Directors of a private Hotel Ltd Company, a private Projects/Marketing company based in Delhi, the then MD, IRCTC and unknown others on the allegations of awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of BNR Hotels at Ranchi and Puri to said private Hotel Ltd Company in 2006.

The ED registered the criminal case against his family members and others under the PMLA on the basis of the CBI FIR. The CBI has already recorded the statements of Tejaswi and Lalu Prasad in this case.
