Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : Aware of ever increasing load on rail traffic on grand chord line connecting Howrah –Dhanbad rail route, Chairman Railway Board (CRB), Ashwini Lohani on December 2, 2017, declared that in coming days speed of all trains including that Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duranto and goods trains will be increased to accelerate the movement of trains on grand chord route to clear big rush of rail traffic. The route at present witnesses movement of trains at maximum 110—115 kms per hour which only Rajdhani Express train maintains.
Lohani has given an optimistic picture of accelerating the speed of faster trains to 60 km per hours including that of Rajdhani, Duranto, Shatabdi on which development and research works are in progress while other mail and express train speed will also be accelerated. “ Not only passenger trains, speed of all goods trains shall be increased,” promised the CRB.
Lohani was talking to mediapersons at Dhanbad station where he came for inspection of newly laid Tori-Shivpur railway track besides inspecting Dhanbad railway junction which is one of the most revenue earning stations in the country for the railways. Lohani added that to speed up the train, strengthening of rail tracks are mandatory on which work is already in progress.
On the issue of starting of rail traffic on Dhanbad –Chadrapura (DC) route which was stopped 3 months ago due to underground fire, the CRB said a high level meeting has been convened under railway minister over the issue on December 15, 2017, in Delhi. The meeting will take afinal final decision on it.
Dhanbad MP P N Singh, local MLA Raj Sinha, Dhanbad Mayor C S Agrawal and other people personally met the CRB Lohani at DRM office and requested him to re-start traffic on DC route. Later, Lohani promised that railways was committed to give more facilities to passengers in coming days for which major decisions have been taken by railway board.
