Patna : Qualifier Jeremy Chardy, 34, France, caused a major upset in ATP ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at Rotterdam, Netherland, by defeating 6th seed David Goffin, 30, Belgium, in straight sets in 2nd round  on March 4, 2021, to reach the quarter-finals of tournament.

World No 64 Chardy beat World No 14 Goffin 7-6, 7-6 in 1hr 43 minutes in 2nd round. Goffin though fired 8 Acdes in the match to 1 by Chardy. Both the players won 1 break point and 2 games in a row each during the match. Chardy, however, won 79 points during the match to 71 by Goffin, who had won singles title at ATP Open Sud de France in France on February 28, 2021. Chardy will face 4th seed and World No 8 Andrey Rublev, 23, Russia, in QFs on Mafrch 5, 2021.

Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, beat World No 30 Hubert Hurkacz, 24, Poland, in a three-set thriller 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in 2hr 7 minutes in 2nd round to enter QFs. Tsitsipas won 2 break points in the match to 1 by Hurkacz. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match. Tsitsipas won 94 points during the match to 83 by Hurkacz.  The Pole though fired 8 Aces in the match to 3 by the Greek.

World No 51 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 21, Spain, upset 5th seed Roberto Bautista Agut,32, Spain, the World No 13, 6-2, 7-6 in first round on March 3, 2021, to enter Round of 16.
