Sitamarhi: The state vigilance investigation bureau sleuths from Patna on Saturday arrested Block Development officer (BDO), Pupri, in Sitamarhi district, Vinit Kumar Sinha while accepting bribe of RS 40,000 at his official residence. A
middleman Satyendra Sahni, an assistant at the BDO office, was also arrested from there.
Sahni was a mediator between BDO and Panchayat Sevak Ram Kailash Ram whose salary for eleven months was not paid allegedly for dereliction of duty. For the release of his salary arrears, Ram Kailash paid the money.
Later on, the vigilance team searched the residence of the BDO and seized Rs 8.5 lakh cash besides several documents. The team took the two arrested persons to Patna. Ram Kailash had lodged his complaint with the vigilance department a month back.
