Probe begins into Jan 14 boat tragedy

Patna : Disaster management department (DMD), Principal Secretary, Prataya Amrit, and Central Range DIG Shalin  on January 17 visited  diara (riverine) area of Sabalpur to inquire into the boat tragedy that claimed the lives of 30 persons on January 14, 2017, the Makar Sankranti day. Both the officials talked to some people on the other side of river Ganga. DIG Shalin said that they were investigating the incident from different angles. It may be recalled here that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar ordered a probe into the boat tragedy on January 14 itself. On January 16, the CM said that ha was not aware that a Kite festival had been organised on Makar Sankranti Day.
