Sasaram: All private schools running without registration in Rohtas district will be closed under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. The education department has issued ultimatum to managements of private schools giving September 30, 2016, deadline to get their schools registered failing which their institutions will be closed.

District Programme Officer (DPO), Sarv Shikshaa Abhiyaan (SSA), Awadhesh Kumar Singh said that at least 600 private schools are running in Rohtas district of which only 256 private schools have so far been registered while the rest 344 private schools are running without registration. He said these schools have been directed to get  registered by  September 30 failing which action would be taken against them.

The DPO said that a number of private schools are running in cramped room without any basic amenities and Trust and fleece the guardians in the name of books, school uniforms, fees and other miscellaneous charges and never bother to impart quality education.

The DPO said that a private school needs a Trust or NGO registered with the Society Registration Act, have its by-laws, coloured photographs of the school, details of the school buildings, areas of school compound, details of teachers, drinking water facilities, lavatories, fire extinguisher and other facilities at the school, for their registration.
