New Delhi : President of India Pranab Mukherjee on July 15, 2017, distributed free LPG connections to 11 women under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at Jangipur in Murshidabad district in West Bengal in the presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

With this, the Central Government has distributed 2.5 crore LPG connections under PMUY among the poor and marginalized households across the country since its launch. The PMUY was launched by PM Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016, according to a PIB release.

Lok Sabha Member Abhijit Mukherjee and Ranjan Mahapatra, Executive Director, Indian Oil, Kolkata, were also present on the occasion.
