Prasoon Joshi is new CBFC Chairperson

New Delhi : Prasoon Joshi, a national award winning film lyricist, was August 11, 2017, appointed Chairperson of  Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He has replaced Pahlaj Nihlani, who took over as the CBSC Chairperson on January 19, 2015.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, (37 of 1952) read with rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 1983, the Central Government on August 11 appointed Prasoon Joshi as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification in an honorary capacity for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to a PIB release.
