Patna : World No 30 H S Prannoy, 27, India, beat five-time former World Champions and twice Olympic Gold Medallist Lin Dan, 35, China, in the second round of BWF World Championships at Basel, Switzerland, on August 20, 2019, to advance to the third round.

Prannoy beat 11th seed Lin Dan inĀ  three- games 21-11, 13-21, 21-7 in 62 minutes causing a big upset in the tournament. Prannoy won 55 rallies to 39 by Lin Dan better known as Super Dan. He won 8 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Dan. Prannoy now leads Dan 3-2 Head to Head.

Lin Dan had World Champions title in 2006 ( Madrid), 2007 ( Kuala Lumpur), 2009 ( Hyderabad), 2011 ( London), and 203 ( Guangzhou). He had also won Gold Medals in 2008 & 2012 Olympics.
