Praneeth & Lee enter QFs of BWF World Championships

Patna : World No 19 B Sai Praneeth, 27, India, upset World No 8 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 22, Indonesia, in the third round to enter the quarter-finals of BWF World Championships at Basel, Switzerland, on August 22, 2019, night. Praneeth, the 16th seed, beat Ginting 21-19, 21-13 in 42 minutes in the third round at St Jakobshalle, Basel.

Praneeth won 42 rallies in the match to 32 by Ginting. Both the players won 6 consecutive points each in the match. Praneeth now leads Ginting 3-2 Head to Head.

World No 13 Lee Zii Jia, 21, Malaysia, beat World No 12 Kenta Nishimoto, 23, Japan, in a three-game thriller in the 3rd round to enter the quarter-finals. Lee beat Nishimoto 21-15, 11-21, 22-20 in 70 minutes in the third round. Lee won 54 rallies in the match to 56 by Nishimoto, the 8th seed. Both the players won 7 consecutive points each in the match. Lee now leads Nishimoto 3-1 Head to Head.
