Patna : World No 23 B Sai Praneeth, India, on July 25, 2019, beat World No 17 Kanta Tsuneyama, Japan, in the second round to enter quarter-finals of Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open at Tokyo, Japan. Praneeth beat Tsuneyama in straight games 21-13, 21-16 in 45 minutes at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo.

Praneeth, who had defeated World No 11 Kenta Nishimoto, Japan, in the first round on July 23, 2019, , won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Tsuneyama. It was the first meeting between the two players.
