Motihari : Nepals’ Industry, Commerce & Supply Minister Matrika Prasad Yadav on July 24, 2019, said that Motihari (North Bihar) – Amalekhgunj (Nepal) Petroleum Pipeline Depot will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India and Prime Minister of Nepal through video conferencing in New Delhi and Amalekhgunj before August 15, 2019, after which it would become operational.
Yadav on July 24 visited the Motihari- Amalekhgunj Petroleum Pipeline Depot at Chhapra-Bahas near Motihari, headquarters of East Champaran district. He expressed his happiness over the completion of this project within 15
months by the Government of India. This petroleum pipeline from India to Nepal will reduce the cost of petroleum in Nepal. Under this project pipeline was laid in 68 KMs between Motihari and Amalekhgunj in Nepal.
Surendra Kumar Paudel, Director, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), said that the pipeline will help in tackling the oil shortage problems in Nepal and doing away with its transportation through tankers. This pipeline has capacity to supply 200 KL per hour.
