Police under magistrate deployed at 240 places in Muzaffarpur dist for Chhath

Muzaffarpur:  Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh and SSP Vivek Kumar on Sunday claimed the district administration has made fullproof security arrangements at all the ghats in the district to ensure the devotees offer `Arghya’  to setting Sun on Sunday evening and rising Sun on November 7 comfortably and safely.

DM Singh said  the administration has deployed police under a magistrate at 240 places in the district.  Muzaffarpur district comprises two sub- divisions – Muzaffarpur East and Muzaffarpur West. Under Muzaffarpur East, 89 places have been earmarked as Chhath Puja venue. Under Muzaffarpur West, 115 places have been identified as Puja venue, the DM said adding Control Room have been set up at 17 places in the district.  In urban areas, Watch Towers have been installed at major ghats. Videographers and Sound System will also be present there, the two officials said. The DM and SSP will themselves monitor the situation.

Sidhighat and Chandwara ghats of Muzaffarpur town have been declared dangerous by the administration. The Chhath devotees have been alerted about all the dangerous ghats in the district and asked not to go there.
