Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Although Bokaro police are yet to arrest the mastermind of Bokaro SBI bank heist case Hasan Chikna of Malda, Bengal, who along with his ten members of his gang had stolen gold and diamond ornaments besides cash worth more than Rs 15 crores by cutting down the most ‘secured claimed’ 72 bank lockers in the heart of Bokaro Steel City on December 25, 2017, they have succeeded in arrested 8 criminals involved in the crime. Polce have also recovered ornaments and cash worth more than Rs 1.40 crore.
Apart from arresting 8 criminals, police also nabbed four other members of the gang who were trying to sell off the stolen ornaments. But, cops have failed to arrest Hasan Chikna, the kingpin of the gang, his wife Firdausi Bibi, a named accused as she is trying to dispose of the stolen ornaments as per revelation made by arrested criminals, and two others: Shamim Miyan and Akabar Ansari, so far.
Bokaro SP Kartik S stated that with arrest of Sharif Khan alias Raja (brother-in-law of Hasan Chikna) from Muslimpur Mohalla of Malda on April 7, 2018, and recovery of 600 grams of stolen gold which were given to him by Firdaus Biwi to sell it in market, it is now clear that Hasan Chikna, who is feared to have escaped to Bangladesh, and his wife are desperate to sell off the stolen jewellery. It is a challenging task for Firdaus as she still possesses major part of stolen ornaments. Police recovered the 600 gm gold from an ornament shop of Malda. A staff of the shop was also arrested.
“After taking arrest warrant, we have even taken permission for attachment of all their immovable property which includes a palatial house of Hasan Chikna at Malda and it will be executed in next few days. We are on verge of cracking the case and recover rest of the ornaments,” stated SP Karthik S on April 12, 2018.
