Police seize 37 Cartons of IMFL, 3 Cars under Piro PS in Bhojpur, arrest 5 liquor smugglers

Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids between Tarari Mor and Laharabad village under Piro police station (PS) in Bhojpur district and seized 37 Cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), three cars, and four mobile phones.

Police also arrested five liquor smugglers: Arbind Yadav of Inarbatpur village,and Lala of Shejani village under Hasanbazaar police station, Santosh Kumar of Laharabad village under Piro police station, Ajay Kumar of Laxmipur village under Ayar police station, and Kavindra Kumar of Dharmdas Dihari village under Tarari police station on March 16, 2020. A named FIR was lodged by Piro police station against them under the Prohibition & Excise Act and they were sent to jail after interrogation. Arvind Yadav is said to be the mastermind of the smugglers’ gang and is brother of notorious criminal Sabha Yadav and brother-in-law (devar) of Mukhia, Katariya Panchayat, Laxmina Devi, while Ajay Kumar is his son-in-law (damad).

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar on March 17, 2020, said that he got information that a gang of liquor smugglers was coming with a big consignment of IMFL. He immediately ordered vehicle checking drive near Tarari Mor and Laharabad village. During vehicle checking,  police intercepted three cars and when they checked them, they seized 37 cartons of IMFL hidden inside the cars. Police also arrested five liquor smugglers, the SP said.

The SP stated that Arvind Yadav confessed during interrogation that they had purchased the IMFL from a shop at Naubatpur in Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh to sale the same in Bhojpur. The SP added that these liquor smugglers smuggled liquor from Uttar Pradesh at least two to three time in a week. They had purchased second hand cars to use them in liquor smuggling.
