Ara : Police, on a tip off, seized two trucks, a Safari, 34,506 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and 956 Sewing machines and also arrested nine liquor mafias on May 28, 2018, late evening in Bhojpur.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he got information that a big consignment of IMFL was being smuggled from Haryana and Punjab and so immediately formed a team underĀ ASP (operations) Nitin Kumar to arrest the liquor smugglers and seize liquor. The police team first of all arrested nine liquor smugglers from Ramana Maidan area under Nawada police station and on their revelation seized two trucks loaded with 34,506 bottles of IMFL packed in 1,049 cartons from Dhobighatwa area under Nawada police station.
The arrested liquor smugglers were identified as Amardeep Kumar of Ara under Nawada police station, Arun Kumar of Rohtak in Haryana, Kallu Yadav of Vaishali district, Lallan Kumar and Ravi Kumar of Patna district, Nitish Kumar of Muzzaffarpur, Balindar Singh, Narendra Singh and Jasvindar Singh of Ropar in Punjab.
The SP said that the liquor was to be unloaded at the residence of Amardeep Kumar, kingpin of liquor smugglers but in the meantime police arrested the liquor smugglers and seized the liquor. He said that the IMFL were hidden beneath the 956 sewing machines of Usha company. When police unloaded the sewing machines, IMFL in large quantity was found on the truck.
