Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, seized 22 kg of Ganja worth about Rs 1.5 lakh from a motorcycle and also arrested a smuggler in this connection near Shivganj locality under Town police station, Ara, on May 31, 2017, while his associate managed to escape. Later, police forwarded him to jail.
A named FIR was lodged with the Town police station against two persons under NDPS Act. The arrested drug smuggler was identified as Bhikhari Singh, son of Triveni Singh of Makhdumpur village under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district. His associate was identified as Rana Pratap Singh, son of Krishna Singh of Makhdumpur village under Bihia police station.
SHO, Town Police Station, J P Singh said that he got information that Bhikhari Singh with his associate Rana Pratap Singh was going to Bihia from Shivpur-Anandnagar locality under Town police station with Ganja on his motorcycle. He immediately swung into action and intercepted the motorcycle near Shivganj locality and seized the Ganja and also arrested Bhikhari Singh. The SHO said that the drug smugglers had brought Ganja from Assam in a train and had kept the consignment somewhere at Anandnagar.
