Ara  : Police, on a tip off, seized 18,670 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from different places in Bhojpur District and arrested five liquor smugglers in last 24 hours.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he got information that foreign liquor business was rampant in different parts of the district and so directed the SHOs of all the 36 police stations in the district to launch drive to check it. On September 15, 2018, night, he said, police, on a tip off, conducted raids at village Dalan Chhapara under Shahpur police station and seized 11,000 bottles of IMFL hidden underground and arrested Sunil Yadav and Bipin Pandey of village Sonaki under Shahpur police station. Later, police sent them to jail after lodging a named FIR against them  under the Prohibition & Excise Act.

Police also conducted raid Birbal Tola under Sikarhatta police station and seized 3,596 bottles of IMFL loaded on a Pick-Up van on September 15 night and arrested Ashok Singh, son of Baban Singh, and sent him to jail.

Police also conducted raid at village Perhap under Sahar police station in the wee hour on September 16, 2018, and seized 690 bottles of IMFL loaded in a four- wheeler but the liquor smugglers escaped from the scene. A named FIR has been lodged with Sahar police station against the owner of the vehicle Deepak Singh, son of Ram Sakal Singh of village Chandi under Charpokhari police station  in this regard.

The SP said that police also conducted raide at Jhauwa Bus Stand under Bihia police station and seized 3,384 bottles of IMFL packed in 141 cartons and arrested two liquor smugglers and sent them to jail.
