Ara : Police recovered body of a man with bullet injury mark near Udwantnagar under Udwantnagar police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar on February 27, 2021, morning, and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The miscreants had pumped four bullets into his body.
The deceased was identified as Umesh Kumar, 35, son of late Dharmnath Singh of village Masadh. He was in CRPF but was dismissed from the service in 2015. He was missing for the last three days. Refusal to pay ‘rangdari ‘ ( extortion amount) of Rs 20 lakh is said to be the reason behind his murder though police trashed this notion. Police have picked up brother-in-law (sala) of the deceased Guddu for interrogation.
Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that Puja Devi, wife of the deceased, had complained in writing on February 26, 2021, that her husband Umesh Kuamr was missing for last two days and someone had demanded Rs 20 lakh from him failing which they would kill him. The SP once formed a team headed by SDPO Pankaj Kumar Rawat that conducted raids at different places to recover Umesh Kumar and arrest the miscreants. Meanwhile, police recovered body of Umesh Kumar near Bampali on February 27, 2021, morning.
The SP stated that Umesh Kumar was in the CRPF but was dismissed from service in the year 2015 and since he then was dealing in illicit liquor and property dealing with his brother-in-law Guddu. Umesh Kumar had some differences with Guddu over Rs 4 lakh and on February 24, 2021, Guddu took Umesh Kumar with him and with the help of his friends allegedly killed Umesh Kumar. Police arrested Guddu.
Balwant, father-in-law of the deceased,said that Umesh Kumar was married to his daughter Puja Devi in 2014 and lived at a rented house at Sankatmochan Nagar under Nawada police station, Ara. One Ankaj Kumar called Umesh Kumar to his residence on mobile phone on February 24, 2021. He went to meet Ankaj Kumar. On February 25, 2021, morning, his daughter Puja Devi received a message on her mobile that demanded Rs 20 lakh with a threat to kill Umesh Kumar if she failed to pay the amount. So Puja Devi requested the SP for safe recovery of her husband.
