Chhapra : Saran Police on July 22, 2018, claimed to have busted the case of loot of Rs 2 lakh cash and gold jewellery from the house of Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sonepur, Piyush Kumar, on July 20 by arresting 5 criminals involved in the loot.
Armed criminals had barged into Piyush Kumar’s house at Barbatta, held the family members hostage in a room, and looted Rs 2 lakh cash and gold jewellery from there. An FIR was
lodged with Sonepur police station in this connection.
Taking serious note of the incident, Saran SP H K Rai constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to crack the case which carried out intensive raids across the district and arrested five
criminals with looted valuables on July 22.
Talking to mediapersons here, SP Rai said that police recovered Rs 4.50 lakh cash, gold ornaments besides several sim cards and cellphones from the possession of the arrested criminals. He said that gold ornaments included seven chains, eight rings, six
bangles (kangan), two mangal-sutras, four era-rings and three ear tops.
Rai said that one of the arrested criminals Akash had kept Rs 1.5 lakh cash in a polythene bag. The SP said the arrested criminals have been identified as Shanu Kumar, Akash Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Alok Kumar, and Dahaur, all residents of Sonepur. Police recovered a bike,
cellphone and a sim card from the possession of Shanu, he added.
