Patna: With the arrest of two persons,Patna Police claimed to have busted a gang involved in theft and sale of costly cellphones after breaking open their IMEI. Police also recovered five cellphones including one cellphone the IMEI number which has been damaged.

Police said that continuous raids were being carried out against the criminals and anti-socials under `Operation Vishwas’ across the district. Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj received inputs that an active member of cellphone thief gang was waiting for his associate near Sai Hospital. He immediately asked Patrakarnagar ps SHO to arrest the criminal immediately.

Police said that a police team led by SHO reached the spot and arrested Monu Kumar and recovered a stolen cellphone from his possession. Acting on the revelations made by Monu, another member of the same gang Balbir Chardra was arrested near Kankerbagh overbridge and the cops seized four stolen cellphones from his possession.

SSP said that both the arrested youth told the police during interrogation that they used to steal costly cellphones and after damaging their EMEI number used to sell them in in different localities of Patna including Bakerganj, Patna City and Patrakaranagar.
