Ara : With the arrest of four bike lifters, Bhojpur police on October 19, 2018, claimed to have busted an inter-district of gang bike lifters. Police also recovered two stolen motorcycles from their possession.
The arrested bike lifters were identified as Dheeraj Kumar, son of Sriram Thakur, Harish alias Bholu Singh, son of Harendra Singh of Kulharia under Koelwar police station, Om Kumar alias Rishu, son of Jitendra Kumar of Karman Tola under Nawada police station, Ara, and Shivam Singh, son of Upendra Singh of village under Chauri police station who lived at Anand Nagar under Ara Town police station.
Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that he got information that a stolen motorcycle is to be sold from a garage at Koelwar under the same police station after which he directed the SHO, Koelwar police station, to arrest the bike lifter. The SHO with police force conducted raid at the garage and arrested Dheeraj Thakur and seized a Passion motorcycle. During interrogation, he revealed the name of other members of his gang and police arrested Harish Kumar alias Bholu Singh, Om Kumar alias Rishu, and the mastermind of the gang Shivam Singh, and also seized another Passion motorcycle.
The SP said that these bike lifters have their syndicate and Vicky Kumar, Dhan Ji, and Mintu are still absconding. He said Vicky and Dhanji made master key while Dheeraj Thakur and Shivam chose the bikes they wished to lift. The SP said that at least 12 motorcycles were within a month and Shivam Singh, who is said to be the mastermind of the gang, sold the stolen motorcycles to persons having criminal background at about Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 each.
