Police arrest two uncles in Nancy murder case

Madhubani/ Saharsa : Police have finally cracked the sensational kidnapping and murder of 12 year old girl Nancy Jha of village Mahadev Math under Andhramath police station in Madhubani district by arresting her two uncles Raghvendra Jha and Pankaj Jha on June 6, 2017. They were forwarded to Madhubani jail on June 7.

Nancy was kidnapped on May 25, 2017, and her decomposed body was recovered on May 27. The post-mortem was conducted by a medical board, which in its report said that the cause of her death was asphyxia. The medical board had ruled out rape of the girl. After that an SIT headed by ASP Jhanjharpur Nidhi Rani, IPS, was conducting the probe into the incident. The SIT had on June 6 called Raghvendra and Pankaj to Madhubani to quiz them but later arrested them.

Raghvendra and Pankaj are cousins of Nancy Jha’s father, said Madhubani SP Dipak Barnwal adding that they were arrested on the basis of circumstantial evidence. The Madhubani SP said that althrough the investigation Raghvendra and Pankaj kept misleading the police by pointing the needle of suspicion towards Pawan Jha and Lalu Jha, who were arrested recently. SP Barnwal said that Raghvendra and Pankaj were the only persons last seen near Nancy.

SP Barnwal said that police would soon pray the court to take them on remand for further investigation into the murder as it was still not clear as to why Raghvendra and Pawan killed Nancy. The SP hinted that Pawan and Lalu were not involved in the murder.

Police had also looked into the call detail records of the mobile phones of Raghvendra and Pankaj. Sources said that Nancy was killed because she was probably aware of the love affair of a female relative, whose marriage was recently settled somewhere else and solemnised on May 26, 2017.
