Saharsa: Police on Friday arrested two persons in connection with SMS threat to noted Saharsa doctor Dr Brajesh Kumar Singh on August 10 asking him to pay an extortion of Rs 25 lakh to the sender of the message or be ready to be killed. Earlier, the local doctors and registered their strong protest over the extortion demands from the doctors and  staged demonstration in Saharsa town.
DSP, Saharsa, Subodh Biswas said the two arrested persons were being interrogated and by Saturday the case would be cracked. He said the arrested persons had provided vital clues regarding SMS threat to Dr Singh.
This was the second time an extortion demand of Rs 25 lakh as made from Dr Singh. The criminals had also fired at his car recently. But, Saharsa police remained indifferent till doctors came on streets on Friday.  The criminals have made extortion demand from several Saharsa doctors including Dr I D Singh from whom Rs 1 crore was demanded.
Apart from issuing threats to the doctors, the criminals have unleashed a reign of terror under Saharsa Sadar police station area. In July, 2016, criminals had shot dead Rakesh Kumar Singh of village Bharauli.
