Hajipur : Two of the three criminals, who killed Patna City trader Ankit Rastogi and his staff Dipu on March 5, 2017, at Hajipur in broad daylight, have been arrested. Although the two killers : Ankit Giri ( 19) and Ravi ( 22), were arrested on March 7, it was made public on March 9 as police were searching for the third criminal to and had to take the two arrested criminal along to different places on the basis of the revelation made by them. The third suspect is, however, yet to be arrested.
Vaishali SP Rakesh Kumar while confirming the arrest of Ankit and Ravi said that they were arrested from Hajipur though they belong to Nayagaon in Saran district. Police also recovered the scooty of Ankit Rastogi from Bariarpur near Nayagaon in Saran. SP Kumar said that the three criminals killed Ankit and Dipu in the hope of looting a huge cash. They had information that Ankit had collected Rs 5 lakh from his clients, the Vaishali SP said adding that information gathered from his clients, however, suggest he was carrying a little over Rs 90,000 only of which Rs 60,000 was found missing as only Rs 32,000 was recovered from the possession of slain Ankit and Dipu. The two arrested criminal have, however, refused looting Rs 60,000 from Ankit Rastogi.
Replying to a query, SP Kumar said that the mastermind of the crime was Ravi. Ankit was a dropout from a polytechnic at Hissar in Haryana. He was a third semester student but did not return to Hissar after December 2016. Police had put their mobiles on surveillance and arrested them by tracking their location.
