Patna : Police on September 22, 2018, arrested one Tariq Maliq, one of the accused in the murder of sharpshooter Tabrez Alam alias Tabbu. Two motorcycle borne criminals had gunned down
Tabrez close to Kotwali police station, Patna, when he was on way to offer Namaz at a local mosque on September 21, 2018.
Tariq was arrested from a house in Jehenabad and is said to involved in hatching conspiracy to eliminate the sharpshooter  Tabrez. The reason behind his murder is land dispute but police are yet to arrest those, who opened fire at him near Kotwali police station. Police recovered the bike used in the murder about 200 metres away from the spot near LIC Building on Frazer Road the same night. It was a stolen bike.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj on September 22 said that soon after the incident, local police started
checking footages of CCTV cameras in the locality. He said that footages of two youth were captured in a CCTV camera installed in the lane close to LIC Building.

The SSP said that based on the statement of deceased’s wife Shama Parveen, an FIR has been lodged against half a dozen persons including Babloo, Guddu, Tariq Malik, Dabloo Mukhia, Farooq Aazam and Anzar Khan. He said that she said that deceased had some land dispute with the accused in Nausa locality in Phulwarisharif and Jehanabad and they had threatened him three days back. The SSP said that Tabrez had stopped construction of an apartment in Nausa locality by the accused.
The SSP said that several police teams were carrying out raids to arrest the accused including shooter Babloo and Guddu. He said that arrested person also had dispute with the deceased in Jehenabad. Tabrez was is originally a resident of Gareriakhand in Jenehabad.
Meanwhile, police sources said that the deceased was facing over half a dozen charges of serious offences in Patna including murder, kidnapping and Arms Act. He was allegedly involvd in kidnapping of a doctor from Buddha Colony in 2001 and the doctor was released after payment of huge cash.
The deceased also faced cases against in Siwan and Dhanbad (Jharkhand). Tabrez was staying with his family in Grand Chandra Apartment on Exhibition Road and used to visit his ancestral
village once or twice in a month. He also faced charge of murdering an MLA in Dhanbad. He had
created sensation last year after he allegedly demanded a Rangdari (extortion amount) of Rs. 2 crore from a restaurant owner in Jehenabad. Tabrez allegedly also had links with notorious Gang of Wasepur in Dhanbad.
