Police arrest bridegroom on charge of celebratory firing

Sasaram : A named FIR was lodged with  Rajpur police station in Rohtas district on April 20, 2019, night, in connection with celebratory firing during a marriage ceremony at village Dayalganj under the police station.

SHO, Rajpur police station, said that a marriage ceremony was going on at a house at village Dayalganj under the police station on April 20 night when the bridgegroom Rajesh Kumar of village Sadanpur under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district, a colonel in the army, fired in the air during the marriage ceremony and also forced his bride to fire. The onlookers videographed the event and made it viral on social media.

About three hours after the celebratory firing incident went viral on social media, police swung into action and lodged a named FIR against the bridegroom and the bride. Police also arrested bridegroom Rajesh Kumar from Tarari and seized his pistol on April 21, 2019.
