Patna : Police arrested six criminals involved in murder and cash loot from noted Patna trader Purushottam Kumar Gupta, who was gunned down by bike borne criminals near Youth Hostel on February 23, 2019, under Gandhi Maidan police station, Patna. Gupta was owner of a sweet shop at Dakbunglow roundabout, Patna. On February 24, slain trader’s family members had lodged an FIR against unidentified criminals in connection with his murder.
Patna Senior SP (SSP) Garima Mallik, briefing mediapersons here on March 11, 2019, said that soon after the incident, a special police team headed by City SP (Central) P K Das was constituted to crack the case. She said that based on cellphone surveillance and CCTV footages, the criminals involved in the heinous crime were identified. She further said that a police team conducted raids at several places in Muharrampur in Bakerganj locality and other places and arrested six criminals.

The SSP said that bike used in the crime was also recovered from the possession of arrested criminals. The arrested criminals had been identified as Vishal Kumar alias Anshu (Natraj Gali, Pirbahore), Vishal Kumar alias Langri (Gobar Toli in Dariapur), Monu Patel (Begampur in Patna City), Mohd. Shakib alias Neelu (Sadar Gali in Khajekallan), Mohd. Pervez alias
Rajan (Muharrampur in Bakerganj), and Mohd. Zunai (Muharrampur in Bakerganj), the SSP added. Police seized a Carbine, one pistol, three magazines, 58 cartridges, barrels of three pistols, eight bottles of IMFL, and Rs 1.2 lakh cash from the possession of the arrested criminals.
Police said that Anshu, Neelu, Monu and Langri are habitual offenders and cases of serious offences including murder, loot, theft, extortion and Arms Act had been lodged against them with Kadamkuan, Pirbahore, Gandhi Maidan, City Chowk and Kotwali police stations.
