Ara : Bhojpur police on February 23, 2019, arrested four persons including two women from village Asani under Udwantnagar police station in connection with a dowry death case and sent them to jail though the husband of the deceased is still absconding. Police are conducting raids to arrest him.

SHO, Udwantnagar police station, Sanjay Kumar Sinha said that Gyanti Devi, wife of Deepak Kumar of village Asani was allegedly killed by her in-laws for a bike on January 29, 2019, and the body was burnt to erase evidence. A named FIR was lodged by Udwantnagar police station against Gyanti Devi’s husband Deepak Kumar, Birendra Singh, his wife Sumanti Devi, Ram Babu Singh, his wife Lakhmunia Devi of Asani village  on the statement of her father Yogendra Singh of village Jokata under Chandi police station.

The SHO said that police arrested Birendra Singh, Ram Babu Singh, Sumanti Devi and Lakhmunia Devi from a field at Jaitpur near Asani where they had taken shelter.
