Bettiah : Police rounded up 536 persons during raids conducted in East Champaran and West Champaran districts and Bagaha police district from June 20 to June 29, 2018. Giving this information at a presser on June 30, DIG, Champaran Range, Lallan Mohan Prasad said that of the 536 persons rounded, 449 persons wanted in connection with major crimes were sent to judicial custody to Motihari and Bettiah district jails.

DIG Prasad said that police also seized two countrymade guns, two pistol, and 11 live cartridges  during the raids. Police also seized over 18,885 litres of different kinds of liquor, 1,575 litres of Spirit, 1.6 kg Ganja, 5 kgs Charas, and Rs 16,07,080 cash, DIG Prasad said. He said that 18 four-wheelers, 20 motorbikes, 8 bicycles besides 30 other vehicles were also seized.

The DIG said that major incidents of loot and murder were committed under Sugauli and Ramagharawa police stations in East Champaran district. He said that a Patna businessman Arbind Kumar Chaudhary, who had mobile phone businees and was going to Raxaul in East Champaran, was killed by his three acquaintance travelling in his vehicle while the driver was shot at and seriously injured near Sidhiya rail level crossing under Sugauli police station. A case was lodged with Sugauli PS in this connection June 25, 2018, and police arrested three criminals involved in the crime and seized Rs 16 lakh from their possessions apart from the looted vehicle, the DIG said.

Ramaghrawa police in East Champaran district arrested Sujit Yadav, Anil Yadav and Birja Yadav of village Enarawa and seized two pistols, a countrymade gun, 8 live rounds and looted motorbike from their possessions. Gaunaha police in West Champaran district recovered 9 looted Bolero  and arrested 7 vehicle lifters, DIG Prasad said. A team of Manuyapul Police Outpost in West Champaran district arrested 5 persons.
