Patna : PM Narendra Modi on May 30, 2019, took oath of office and secrecy for the second term at Rashtrapati Bhavan after massive victory of BJP led NDA in the General Elections. Over 8,000 guests attended swearing-in ceremony. Twentyfour Cabinet Ministers and 33 Ministers of State (Mos) including 9 with Independent Charge (IC) also took oath of office. The President of India Ram Nath Kovind administered oath of office and secrecy to PM Modi and members of his cabinet.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh was second to take oath followed by BJP President Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari. Former Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar has also been inducted into the Union Cabinet.

Smriti Irani, 43, who defeated Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi constituency, Nirmala Seetharaman, 59, Harsimrat Kaur Badal,52, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, 52, Renuka Singh Saruta, 55, and Debashree Chaudhuri, 48, are the 6 women ministers in the Union Cabinet. There were 8 women ministers in the last cabinet. Altogether 78 women have been elected to the Lok Sabha this year.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, former Deputy PM L K Advani, and former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, also attended the function.

From Bihar, LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan, BJP MP from Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh, all three Cabinet Ministers,  from Union Home Secretary and MP from Ara Raj Kumar Singh (MoS with IC), Buxar MP Ashwini Kumar Chaubey, Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai, all Mos, took oath as Union Ministers. From Jharkhand, three-times former Chief Minister and MP from Khunti has been inducted in the Union Cabinet. Giriraj Singh, who was MoS with IC in the previous cabinet, has been promoted to Cabinet rank.
