Gurugram ( Haryana) : World No 3 Karolina Pliskova, 27, Czech Republic, beat World No 5 and reigning Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber, 31, Germany, in the final to lift the women’s singles title at WTA Nature Valley International, Eastbourne, UK, a grass courts event, on June 29, 2019, night.
Second seed Pliskova beat 4th seed Kerber, the winner of three Grand Slam singles titles, 6-1, 6-4 in the final to clinch the title. Pliskova fired 7 Aces in the match to 3 by the German. She also won 4 break points to just 1 by Kerber. P;liskova also won 4 games in a row in the match. She won 36 service points to 33 by Kerber, who had defeated former World No 1 Simona Halep, Romani, in the quarter-finals.
