Munger: Pinki Kumari, wife of a political leader of Tarapur in Munger district, was elected the Chairperson of Munger Zila Parishad on Thursday defeating senior JD(U) leader Sanjay Kumar Singh, the sitting vice chairman. Pinki secured nine votes while Sanjay got only four votes. One vote was rejected. There are 14 members in the Parishad. Munger DMr Uday Kumar Singh chaired the proceedings of election. Ramcharitra Mandal, a native of village Nauagarhi under sadar block Munger, and  was declared vice president of the Zilla Parishad after a tie between him and his opponent Durgesh Kumar Singh. Both of them had secured seven  vote each. The matter was decided by the RO-cum-DM by lottery and result came in favour of Ramcharitra Mandal.  The newly elected chairperson and vice chairman were handed over  certificate of victory and administered them oath.
