Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raid at the house of a Public distribution system (PDS) dealer Mithilesh Kumar in New Nawada locality under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district on May 14, 2017, evening and seized 22 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Police also arrested two persons including the PDS dealer Mithilesh Kumar and forwarded them to jail. A named FIR has been lodged with Nawada police station under New Excise Act in this connection.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he got information that the PDS dealer Mithilesh Kumar was  doing liquor business liquor secretly. He immediately sent police force that conducted raid at his house in New Nawada locality under Nawada police station and seized 22 bottles of IMFL hidden inside a wall. On the revelation of Mithilesh Kumar, police also raided the house of his friend Dilip Kumar who supplied liquor to him. Police arrested Dilip Kumar in drunken state but could not get a single bottle of liquor from his residence.

In another incident, Bhojpur police seized 80 bottles of IMFL from an Indica car at village Dhamar  under Ara Muffassil Police Station on May 15, 2017, though the liquor smuggler managed to escape from the scene.

Meanwhile, Ara SDO Navdeep Shukla and Sub-Inspector, Excise Department, Sanjay Kumar, on the direction of the State government, destroyed 31 bottles of IMFL and 88 litres of countrymade liquor and even the equipment used for brewing liquor under the wheel of JCB at village Sahar on May 13. They also destroyed 647 bottles of IMFL at village Babhangawa under Barahara police station. At least 1,295 bottles of IMFL and 45 litres of countrymade liquor were destroyed at Jagdishpur too. The liquor and equipments were seized from June 2016 upto now and were kept at Sahar, Jagdishpur and Barahara police stations.
