Patna: Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park  (SGBP), Patna, authorities, have brought a new hope for survival of Ghariyals by breeding them successfully under captivity. As a result, this year two new baby crocs hatched. They are under close observation of Zoo keepers and vets ,n separate nursery. Once they will attain satisfactory growth, they will be released in large encloser. Their keepers are feeding them small fish and prawns.

The  Ghariyals lay eggs in month of March-April by digging a nest on sand bars. At present, there are 75 Ghariyals in SGBP. In recent past, few Ghariyals from Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park were released in wild in River Gandak at Valmiki Tiger Reserve.
