Patna: With the arrest of two persons, Patna Police on December 29 claimed to have solved the murder case of a cloth trader Mantoo Kumar. Police also recovered the deceased’s bike and his cellphone and sim card from the possession of the arrested youths, Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said adding that the police team would be rewarded.

Police said that on December 23 morning, body of an unidentified youth was found on Paliganj-Kinjar NH-69. Later, the deceased was identified as Mantoo Kumar, a native of Sri Rampur Tola Bihta. An FIR was lodged with the Sigodi police station on the statement of deceased’s father Jaiprakash. Taking serious note of the incident, Patna SSP constituted a police team led by ASP, Paliganj, Mithilesh Kumar Singh, and comprising Sigodi ps SHO Mohan Kumar and members of Technical Cell to crack the case.

The police team started collecting information from the relatives and acquaintances of the deceased and the cops came to know that deceased had friendly relation with Prince Rahul and Vivek Kumar. The police team also came to know that the relation between the three friends was estranged. The police team also came to know during investigation that both the friends were missing after the recovery of the deceased’s body. The cops kept a watch on their movements and got information that Prince had come to his house at Kinjar.

The police team immediately arrested Prince and on his revelations, they also arrested Vivek from his relative’s house at Kamariya Gram. Both the arrested youth admitted  their involvement in the crime, police said, adding that the arrested youth told the police team during interrogation that they had purchased clothes from Mantoo’s shop and had not paid full price of the clothes. Police said that as Mantoo was regularly pressurizing them to clear the pending amount, both the friends decided to eliminate him.

Police said that under their conspiracy, both the friends called Mantoo on the plea of handing him over the rest amount. They boozed and puffed ganja there. When Mantoo lost his senses, his friends shot him dead and dumped his body on NH-69 and escaped.The arrested youth had criminal antecedents and they are accused in three criminal cases lodged with Kinjar police station.
