Patna : A Patna Police team have arrested the main shooter Rahul alias Saunti alias Kankatwa from Kotwali police station area in connection with murder of an Under Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Bihar Government, Rajeev Kumar, and dacoity at his house R. Block late in the night of August 14, 2018.
Police recovered a countrymade pistol besides two live cartridges from his possession. The arrested criminal had been earlier sent to jail in connection with several criminal cases.
It may be mentioned here that the Under Secretary lived at his government flat on Road No. 2 in R. Block locality. On August 14 late night, some criminals had entered his house after snapping power
connection and started looting valuables. As Rajeev woke up hearing the commotion and tried to resist them, criminals opened fire killing him and escaped from there.
Soon after the incident, Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj had constituted a special team for cracking the case. Raids were carried out at separate places and it resulted in arrest of Shravan, Sunny and Baikunth on August 17, 2018. But Rahul was evading arrest.
The SSP said that to dodge police, Rahul had changed his identity by getting his head tonsured and got his beard and moustache shaved.
