Panchayat ward councillor arrested in drunken state

Ara: Though the state government has enforced complete prohibition in the state and the Bhojpur police administration warned all the Station House Officers of all the 34 police stations in the district of stern action if liquor is seized or found under their respective jurisdiction, still liquor is recovered frequently and people are arrested for taking alocohol almost every day. On Thursday evening, Bhojpur police arrested a ward councillor in a drunken state. Police brought him to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) for medical examination and is now being sent to jail. SHO, Bihia police station, S K Dubey, said that Gaya Yadav, a ward councillor of ward no 9 of Bihia panchayat in Bhojpur district, was going to his house in a drunken state Thursday evening. The police arrested him and brought him to the Primary Health Centre for medical examination the same night.
