Bagaha : West Champaran district administration has initiated steps to suspend Panchayat Sevak, Mahipur Bhataura Panchayat under Bagaha-1 Block, Radheyshyam Ram, for not completing a 350 feet long village channel but keeping cheque ready for payment to the agency concerned for the whole work. BDO, Bagaha -1 Block, Raguvar Prasad, has also been asked to show cause as to why action should not be initiated against him as well in this connection.

West Champaran DM Nilesh Ramchandra Deore had constituted a three- member team comprising Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR), Bagaha, Jaichand Prasad, Assistant Election Officer (AEO), Bagaha,  Anil Patel, and Executive Magistrate, Bagaha,  Prakash Sinha, to probe into the alleged irregularities committed by Panchayat Sevak Radhesyam Ram allegedly in connivance with BDO, Bagaha -1 Block, Raghuvar Prasad, in construction of a 350 feet long village channel in Mahipur -Bhataura panchayat under Bagaha-1 block. The estimated cost of the scheme was around Rs 2.62 lakh.

SDM, Bagaha Sub-Division, Ghanshyam Meena on April 6, 2018, said the channel was completed only about 189 feet instead of 350 feet but the cheque was prepared for payment for the entire work (350 feet). The matter was leaked by villagers and the cheque was cancelled by the BDO, Bagaha -1 Block.

SDM Meena said that measurement book (MB) was also not available at the office. The BDO, Bagaha- 1 Block has been asked to show cause while proceedings have been initiated for suspension of Panchayat Sevak Radheshyam Ram, the SDM said.
